Recipe – Can I Borrow a Match?

fullsizeoutput_385This drink was inspired by spy novels and train travel. Luxury and mystery in equal measure, it is meant to mimic elements of afternoon tea, with floral and herbal components. But be careful, its sophistication hides a punch.

Specs

(Note: Feel free to scale ingredient costs up and down to fit your budget. These are the brands/types we used.)

2 oz. Darjeeling-infused dry gin (Gordon’s)
3/4 oz. Amaro Meletti
1/4 oz dry vermouth (Dolin)
1/4 oz. honey syrup
7 drops rose water
2 dashes cardamom bitters
2 dashes lemon bitters

Stir all ingredients over ice and strain into a coupe glass.

Tasting

Darjeeling’s astringency, along with the rose water and vermouth, make this drink quite dry. The honey and Meletti add balance, and a hint of saffron.

Don’t trust anyone.
